Wonder - First Person Point Of View

Wonder - First person point of view
Last week Rimu class have been writing a short essay about first person point of view.

I think R.J Palacio uses 1st person when she tells ‘Wonder’. There are three examples as to why I think this.
The story is written in first person because at the start of the book she used,
“I know I’m not an ordinary ten-year-old kid.”

Next, August is describing himself when he is introducing himself to the reader, for example,
“If I found a magic lamp and I could have one wish, I would wish that I had a normal face that no one ever noticed at all.”

Then, Palacio continues to use the first person point of view to tell the story by using the words ‘Me’ and ‘I’ for example,
“I like it when mum tells the story, it makes me laugh so much.”

Therefore you can clearly see why I think wonder is written in first person.

  1. Katie; Firstly, I know it is a surface feature, but, I am very impressed by your excellent use of punctuation. It is great that you have used examples from the text to support your conclusions. I would be interested to know if you are enjoying the book. Miss Blair is a big fan of the book. I think books are one of the treasures of life. Superb work Katie!
